Strong, well-funded federal programs create jobs, grow the economy, reduce inequality, and keep millions out of poverty. But if the newly elected Congress passes anything like the budget the US House passed last year, successful programs such as unemployment insurance, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit, which help to keep millions out of poverty, will be slashed, along with education, housing, nutrition, and other vital services for the neediest families. These cuts will come on top of years of cuts. Tell Congress to #StopTheCuts and put people first!
