Pennsylvania NOW is co-sponsoring a Roe v. Wade visibility event in downtown Philadelphia on Thursday, January 22nd on Broad at Walnut from noon to 1PM. Join us and our sister organizations Planned Parenthood, Women’s Way, CHOICE Philly and many other local feminist organizations.
It has never been more important to stand up in defense of the 1972 Roe v. Wade decision giving US women the right to end their pregnancies as the US House gears up for a vote Thursday on a 20-week abortion ban, coincident with the anniversary of the Roe decision.
Abortion is essential healthcare for women as pregnancies don’t always go as planned, and birth control is not 100% effective. No one should be able to decide for another whether or not they will bear a child. The ability to determine if and when she will have children and how large her family will be is a woman’s most fundamental right. Politicians are not qualified to legislate the doctor-patient relationship. Abortion bans don’t work, and abortion care is part of the continuum of reproductive healthcare necessary for women. Come out and show your support of safe and legal access to abortion care.
