Pennsylvania NOW Election Committee Report November 12, 2021
The Election Committee consisted of Karen Bojar, Ernie Bristow, and Vanessa Fields as Chairperson. The committee utilized the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Organization for Women (PA NOW) Guidelines/Bylaws as our guide for the election.
On September 8, 2021, a motion was made by Vanessa Fields and seconded by Karen Bojar to suspend the PA NOW State Convention for 2021 and to instead hold only an online officers election on November 15, 2021.
By the deadline of October 15, 2021, a majority (95%) of the PA NOW members voted online in favor of the Special Election which was a Constitutional Amendment to Section 4, Subsection F of the Guidelines/Bylaws.
Concurrently, PA NOW members had been invited to submit an officers slate for consideration and to run as an individual for one of the three Executive Committee at-large seats for the November 15th election, by emailing the Election Committee at phillynow215@gmail.com.
The membership was informed that there was a General Membership meeting on November 12, 2021, and that the submission of their candidacy was to be emailed to the Election Committee no later than 5:00 pm on November 12, 2021.
On November 12, 2021, at 5:00 pm, only one slate had been submitted to the Election Committee. The slate consisted of Nina Ahmad for President, Jeannette Geter for Vice President, Michele Lockman for Treasurer, Janet Hill for Secretary, and Natalie Leslie and Janet Diaz for Delegates At Large.
At the 7:00 pm General Membership meeting, since no other slates were submitted to the Election Committee the one slate consisting of Nina Ahmad for President, Jeannette Geter for Vice President, Michele Lockman for Treasurer, Janet Hill for Secretary and two delegates at large, Natalie Leslie and Janet Diaz were declared elected by acclamation.
