TEDxWalnutStWomen is an independently organized, not-for-profit TEDx conference focused completely on showcasing bold ideas for and about women, and will feature nine women speakers from the Philadelphia community, as well as streamed talks from the TEDWomen global conference.

This is the inaugural TEDxWalnutStWomen conference and the first public TEDxWomen event in general in the Philadelphia area. Our event is part of a network of more than 150 TEDx events around the world that will take place within 48 hours of the 2015 TEDWomen global conference.

Our live speakers include Ellen Weber, executive director of Robin Hood Ventures and Temple University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute; sexuality and relationships specialist Dr. Timaree Schmit; attorney Lauren Fine, Esq., founder of the Youth Sentencing & Re-Entry Project; and and social worker and global health expert Jessica Lee, founder of the Refugee Women’s Textile Initiative. We’ll also be live-streaming Session 5 of the TEDWomen global conference, which includes speakers like Linda Cliatt-Wayman, a high school principal at Strawberry Mansion High School here in Philadelphia.

Additionally, at the post-event reception, attendees will have the opportunity to pitch their own ideas – whether it be for a new start-up, a unique event, a side project, or anything that moves them and the community forward and win a small grant and mentorship program to help them move their idea forward.

You can find more details about the event on our website, www.tedxwalnutstwomen.com.
